Our school follows the curriculum strategy – Learning and Growing as the People of God - provided by the Archdiocese of Birmingham for teaching RE in a Catholic primary school.

Please click on the links below to access each class’ syllabus.

In addition to the diocesan strategy we have dedicated themed weeks for example a multi faith week which seeks to support the children in learning about other faiths.

St Joseph’s we are growing to be…

This half term (Spring 1) we are focussing on being CURIOUS and ACTIVE

Curious and Active
Pupils are growing to be curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
What does this mean?
Catholic schools help their pupils grow by leading pupils to be curious about the universe and all human activity, and to take increasing responsibility for their own learning,
and by providing opportunities for them to be active in the life of the school, the Church and the wider community.

Curious: Exploring God’s creation and asking questions to find out more. Everything around us was created by God. Being curious about these things – from tiny insects to enormous planets, from the languages of the Earth to the patterns made by numbers – brings us closer to God.

Active: Working to make things better where we can. Making the right choices to how to act. As we use our curiosity to explore, we find things that could be better: a friend is unhappy; a neighbour is lonely; there is litter in the playground; the whiteboard needs wiping. Some of these problems we can fix. By being active we take responsibility for these tasks and look after God’s creation.

Our Prayer for this Half Term as we aim to be Curious and Active.

Lord God,

we thank You for our school family and our wider community.

Thank You for all that You have given us to explore and be curious about in our lessons and in our leisure time outside of school.

Guided by Your Holy Spirit, inspire us as we journey through this half term, as we seek to put our learning into action.

Help us to be active like the Disciples and courageously cast our nets out into the deep, ready to be engaged within the wonderful world You have created, as we strive to change what we can, with Your help, for the better.

In the Name of Jesus, Your Son, we make our prayer.  Amen.

St Joseph...Pray for us
