Year Four Spring Term

Year four spring term

Please continue to learn your times tables. You need to know all facts up to 12 x 12.



We begin our term with the Christmas unit of work followed by work from the Old Testament, Lent and Holy Week units.


In English this term we are studying James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

In Guided Reading we are studying Rules for Vampires by Alex Foulkes. The children were lucky to meet Alex last year, if you have your book at home please feel free to bring it into school for lessons.


 In maths this term we are continuing to learn our multiplication facts up to 12 x 12.  We are also continuing our work on division, learning about fractions, length and perimeter and decimals.

Foundation Subjects

In History this term we are learning about Anglo-Saxons.  We will be learning where they came from, how they lived and what their influence on Britain was.  We will be looking at Staffordshire and any clues of Anglo-Saxon activity including information about the Staffordshire Hoard.

In Geography we are learning about erosion and deposition.  We will be looking at formations of rivers, coast and beaches.  

In Science we are learning about Electricity and conservation of habitats.

In Art we our topic is Urban Sketching and in D&T we will be working with parents and carers on creating paper circuits.

PE continues to be on Tuesdays, please come to school dressed in your PE kit.
